Independence Day President PM Congratulate Nation Urge Unity

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in their message on 69th Independence Day, have congratulated the nation celebrating the day with new zeal and vigour and with the conviction that this day will be a harbinger of political, economic and social stability.

The President, in his message said during the last few years, the happenings at the regional and international levels deeply impacted Pakistan which not only gave rise to law and order issues but also complicated economic crises making inroads into our homes. “But no hurdle could withstand the strong resolve of the nation.”

He said the Government of Pakistan decided with strong political will to purge various areas and cities from the menace of lawlessness, terrorism and extremism and under this decision, the Pakistan Army and other law enforcement agencies are performing their responsibilities in an effective manner, bringing peace in the country. “Similarly, on the economic front, the government has adopted solid policies for the economic turnaround,” he said.

He appealed to the nation to work in unison for translating positive and explicit opportunities into reality to realise the dreams of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Poet of the East Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also congratulated all the countrymen on the auspicious occasion of the Independence Day.

“It is also a day of happiness; a day of bowing down our heads before Almighty Allah in thankfulness and a day of renewing our pledge that we will continue to struggle with unity and oneness for the objectives, for which Pakistan was created,” he said.

“Today, we should also remember those great martyrs, who sacrificed all of their belongings and even presented their lives,” he said.

The premier said, “Today is a day of self-accountability too. We will have to ponder over as to what mistakes we committed in the past that we have lagged behind our contemporary nations.”

PM Nawaz said the government is committed to root-out the menace of terrorism. “Operation Zarb-e-Azb is demonstrative of this commitment. The sacrifices and efforts of the armed forces, civil armed forces and all concerned institutions - good results of which are appearing - are appreciable,” he added.
